Annual service held in the fall is a treasured part of Episcopal Church life. The MAJOR fund-raising and social event at Leed's church. Held each September in conjunction with the Fauquier County Fall Farm Tour, the Applefest at Stribling Orchard offers a day of Applebutter making, crafts, music, lunch and bake sale, pony rides, Civil War camp, and more. The Saturday event is preceeded by a busy week of apple picking, peeling and cooking in preparation of making 2-3 kettles of applebutter. In 1999, all proceeds from the event went to Fauquier Family Free Clinic. View pictures from September 1999 Applefest Held the 1st Saturday in December and sponsered by the Leeds Craft Group, it supports local crafts people on consignment as well as crafts made by the Church youth and LEAP Pre-school children . A highlight of each year is the annual Renaissance Dinner and Musicfest, celebrating either 12th Night or Carnival. A festive themed evening of dinner, period music and costume is preceeded by Evensong service. Open to the community, the Halloween party provides a fun and safe evening of games, costume contests and candy! candy! candy! Held each summer in conjuntion with other local churches, this annual event brings young and old together to listen to and sing many of the old favorites from our childhood. Each August, members old and new come from near and far to return to the church, renew acquaintances, and enjoy the beauty of Leeds Church. Special events such as the new Founder's Memorial award also take place to honor those who have given a lifetime of service to Leeds. |
