Church life is centered on weekly Sunday worship according to the traditions of the Episcopal Church; special services mark the events of the Christian year. Leeds holds an ecumenical Thanksgiving Eve service for the community. Education is important at Leeds. Sunday school classes for ages 3 - teens meet during the school year at 9:30 a.m. Confirmation classes for youth and adults are provided each year. Regular education programs are offered for adults at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday and during the week. Special interest groups include "Mothers and Others" for women of the church and community (one evening per month), and monthly meetings of the Brotherhood of Saint Andrew for men and boys. The Vestry (on behalf of Leeds Church), the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) and the Crafts Group raise and distribute funds for local, national, and international outreach projects. The ECW sponsors bimonthly seniors luncheons and an annual community hymn sing, the church has summer Bible School open to the community, and groups assist with many local needs. Musical leadership is provided by the Leeds Choir. This group also sponsors an annual Renaissance dinner and concert and provides other special musical offerings throughout the year. Since 1995, Leeds has had an active "companion ministry" with the Diocese of Toungoo in Burma. The Leeds Parish Hall is used by community groups such as AA, Hume Homemakers, and the Ruritan Club. Exercise classes are also held regularly. |
