Our Children's Ministries

"Almighty God, heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children: Give us calm strength and patient wisdom as we bring them up, that we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen.

  • We sponsor the Leeds Episcopal Activity Preschool (LEAP). The LEAP Pre-Kindergarten program is for children 4-5 years old and it has classes (9:15 AM to 1:15 PM) three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).  The LEAP "Play & Learn" program is for children 3-4 years old and it meets Mondays and Fridays (9:15 to 12:15 PM).  Scholarship help is available for all classes.  For more information on LEAP, please go to the link on the left menu bar of this page.    

  • We offer regular Christian education and spiritual formation for children.  At Leeds, the Church School class for ages 3-12 meets on Sundays during the school year at 10:30 AM in the Parish House.  This means that during the first half of the 10:30 AM Holy Eucharist, the parents are worshipping in the sanctuary, while the preschool and elementary school kids are worshipping and learning in their Sunday School class.  The children then join their families and everyone else in the sanctuary for Holy Communion, the second half of the worship service.

  • We provide nursery care in the Parish Nursery each Sunday from 10 AM to 1 PM for infants and toddlers.  Our nursey attendant is Megan Shoemaker, who is trained in caring for young children.

  • We always invite and welcome children to participate in the entire Holy Eucharist service on Sundays.  We celebrate the joyful noises they make to the Lord!  On special Sundays during the year, children and youth also serve as ushers, greeters and readers.  

  • We put on a delightful Christmas Pageant each year at the 10:30 AM service on the fourth Sunday of Advent.  Our children play all the roles in the pageant, and each year we give thanks for their beautiful, moving presentation of the nativity story.

  • We also offer Vacation Bible School in the summer.  It is open to all people.  We are currently in the process of choosing the curriculum for our 2012 VBS.  Check back later for more information!
